Hey Everyone!

I'm in the process of recording a series of 30-minute video lessons that I'm going to put up on a new section of this site. The lessons will cover guitar, composition, arranging, theory, vocals, and technical aspects of playing, all on beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. The plan, right now, is to offer both one-time fee lesson downloads, as well as a monthly subscription (probably around $25-$30 per month) that will grant access to all lessons on the entire site. What I need to know is how many of you would be interested in using the site. So, if you think you'd be interested in either downloading from, or subscribing to the site, let me know in the poll below.

Thanks, Matt

Would you be interested in patronizing the site I'm putting together?(survey software)

Hey everyone,

We're working on all kinds of updates for the website, so keep coming back in the coming weeks, we'll be adding a little more video (we hope), some audio, updates on recording, information about more performances around town, and anything else we can think of.

I'm still working on the album, and it's coming along really well. The first four pre-production rouchs are sounding good, so it's time to move on to the rest of the album. I'm hoping to be doing rinal recordings by December, so we can try and get the album out in the first part of next year. So keep sending good energy and prayers this way, and we'll see if we can't get something for you guys to hear really soon.

By the way, I may have a big surprise in the works for those of you who ask me about lessons, so keep checking back.

Take care, and be nice to each other.

Hey everyone

Well, it's FINALLY done. I FINALLY have a good recording of "The Old Rugged Cross." It's definitely going to be on this album, and I've been trying to get it for weeks now. I got a good one, so the demo is done. I'll be posting excerpts from the demo really soon, so keep coming back to the site. Also, like I said in the last entry, I'm recording some covers just to put up on the site so you guys have something to listen to while you're waiting for this album.

Any requests?

Take care, and be nice to each other.

Hey everybody,

Sorry it's been so long since I wrote anything here. I ended up getting really frustrated with the logistics, politics, and financial issues that arise in the world of recording studios, and just bought my own rig. Pro Tools, iMac, Octava mics, and all kinds of other toys and plugins are now all over my office. But, I just finished the first three pre-production tracks for the next album, and I'm having a blast. They sound MUCH better than I expected, especially considering I recorded them in my living room. Still having to brush up on the recording techniques I studied 15 years ago, but I'm having a great time, and greatly enjoying the freedom.

I'm planning on making a few recordings of a few covers, just to have something for you guys to hear. I already have a couple of John Hiatt tunes that I'm working on, so I'm hoping to have something for you to listen to in a couple of weeks. Also, I've had several people ask me about ways that I play certain songs, and how I use the loop station and all that, so I'll probably start putting up some videos soon. Keep checking back, and feel free to email with any questions.

Take care, and be nice to each other.

Welcome to the site!!!! We’ve been working on it for a while now, so I hope you like it. You can find just about everything you need to know about me here, assuming we keep the performance schedule up to date. I’ve already had a couple of requests from people for explanations of my guitar rig and how I use it, as well as the stories behind a couple of songs, so I’ll get into that, soon.

The short version of what’s happening now is that I’m working on another project. I’ll have much more information in a couple of weeks, but I should have another album on iTunes in a month or so. I know that a lot of you are looking for recordings of “Old Rugged Cross.” Well, you’ll soon have to wait no longer. It will, definitely, be on this new project, along with songs written with friends of mine like Bruce Carroll and Dave LeMieux.

So, keep coming back for more updates, more info, more completely unsolicited and extremely verbose opinions, updates, thoughts, answers, and explanations. I’ll be putting them up often. If you have any questions (about anything at all, even stuff that’s none of your business, hahaha), go ahead and ask them. I’ll almost always answer. In spite of being borderline compulsively reclusive, I’m not really a very private person. So, ask away.

Until then, you can help by sending as many people as you know to this site. Tell them about my music, about my shows, my videos, my album, whatever. Maybe I can get the blog interesting enough to be an enticement for repeat visitation.

Take care, and be nice to each other.

Matt
